The Municipality of Byala makes great efforts to deal with the maintenance of municipal roads in good condition. The project itself, under which this contract is funded, includes the rehabilitation of road sections in the town of Byala and the improvement of the road conditions and the safety of the road users. However, there are measures that, if implemented, will significantly reduce the risk and number of road accidents in the municipality. Yeah, they’re like that:

  • Installation of a Doppler radar camera in the section of road I-5 before the roundabout, on the east side, to measure the speed of passing vehicles in the direction of Ruse-Pleven. The camera would be effective if placed at least 300 meters from the intersection – on the section with a constant longitudinal slope, in its straight part. This will allow the speed of drivers who approach the roundabout at a higher speed to be adjusted;
  • Installation of a Doppler radar camera in the section of road I-5 before the roundabout, on the west side, to measure the speed of passing vehicles in the direction of Pleven – Ruse. The straight section in the OMV area is quite often an area with severe accidents and this, in addition to speeding, will also correct the movement of motorcycles and sports cars;
  • Redesign of the horizontal position of the roundabout and the angle of inclusion of road I-5 so that the connections become smoother and safer;
  • Laying a noise marking about 150 meters before the roundabout on road I-5 before including it;
  • Installation of illuminated signs with flashing lights in English and Romanian, warning of the dangers of entering the roundabout;
  • Installation of lighting in the area of the intersection of road II-54 and road I-5, for better visibility for drivers at night;
  • Installation of traffic lights at the intersection of road II-54 and road I-5;
  • Laying of a new marking at the intersection of road II-54 and road I-5, with the addition of pedestrian paths, type “Zebra” for pedestrians
  • Adding another Zebra pedestrian path at the inclusion of the street on the market to road II-51;
  • Laying new road markings in the market area of the town of Byala and additional fences separating the sidewalks from the streets;
  • Laying horizontal obstacles to reduce speed “lying policeman” in the area of the intersection of road II-51 and local inclusions with streets in the area of the market and the pedestrian path at the intersection of road II-54 and Mincho Papaschikov Street.
